Once upon a time, there was a man.
He was a regular person, with an uncanny characteristic:
He felt, in his gut, that he was meant to do great things.
He also felt, believe it or not, that he had done magnificent feats in the Past, in other lives. But he had been away from this world for a long, long time. He had been dormant, in a different space, filled with black and white whirlwinds.
And his time had come. Like so many other forgotten times, he stepped into his new being and started living. And it all started with the first breath.
Now, the question is: despite being surrounded by a corrupt environment, there were outways for great and epic feats in the old days. But not anymore.
He longed for an eye to eye challenge with an opponent.
But the only thing his current world would be willing to give him would be an elevated sniper position with a killsheet of over 2 miles away worth of sniping distance, an unmatched gunslinger duel or a prison sentence for manslaughter.
"Humanity has come a long way. Humans used to kill each other with stones, spears, bones, anything at hand. With the dawn of religion, offences would even be punished with a rain of stones on the body of the "sinner".
And now? Well. We have guns. And injections. Life sentences.
We give painless deaths or babysitting sentences to the worst of the worst.
In older times, their skulls would be broken with a rock of considerable size.
Just saying. I am not barbaric, although, at some point and at some degree, we are still that blunt instrument, that early caveman. We have just masked ourselves with education for millions of years. If we hadn't, we would not be any different from a lion or a panther. Simple, instinct dependant predators, living to catch the following prey, the next meal. In all the days of our lives. 'Till death did thy lion or panther apart. From life. Did a caveman believe in God? Or in his sticks and stones? Did he believe in the miracle of life and the termination that comes with death? Angles, Demons, Good and Wrong. Were they present in the lives of our original ancestors? No, probably not. These moral evaluations are a fruit of education. Sure, it would be wrong to kill their hunting partners, especially before facing a mammoth, but it was much more simplistic. Bottomline is: Humankind has its own way of preserving itself. Vampirism, lycantrophy, those are all myth. Good myth, created to dazzle us and make us fear something. For fear is and will always be the ultimate weapon against Mankind. But these myths, now turned to popular culture, will one day, in future generations, be substituted by others. The cycle never stops. If it ever does, Humankind will stop with it and we shall all wither and die.
So think: are your problems that big? No. In perspective, not really.
Make the most of life, that's what I think. Reach that ever elusive thing called being happy. Not for people Past nor people to come. Not for others, the ones that surround you. But for yourself."
